Retro Gaming Flux #2

By: Keldon Warlord

Hello fellow Gamebrainers and welcome to Retro Gaming Flux V 2.0. In this Wacky edition I will cover a great Super Nes classic......

Yup thats right, one of the last great Square games before they converted to the BIG EVIL S (Sony...read Rated Mature if ya don't catch my drift). Anywhoo, with a system with so many great games, it is very easy to over look a great classic such as Secret of Evermore.

In Secret of Evermore, you play as a young boy and his dog, who are accidentally sucked into an imaginary world called Evermore. Now the two heroes embark on a dangerous journey to find whoever is causing people to get stuck in Evermore, and make it back to their home town of Podunk with parshing.

Overall, I thought this game was pretty sweet. Squaresoft has done better of course, but it was still has that great amount of quality that comes with the Squaresoft name. The sound effects are very nice, as are the visual effects for the alchemy spells. The music was also really good once you got past Prehistoria, where the BGM is just birds and dinosaurs making noise. Also, the gameplay is top notch as usual for a Square game. It uses the Ring Commands just like Secret of Mana, which I think most people find easy to use. I can tell you right now that if you liked Secret of Mana, you should try this game out. Another fun part about the game is trying to find all the secrets there are, 'cause there are a lot of them. Formulas and charms are just two of the things you can look for.

The only thing that made me mad was that you had to use ingredients to cast spells instead of the usual MP. It was like you had to pay for MP! Sure, the ingredients were pretty sweet, but it could cut your money down really fast if you were casting too many spells, but most of the spells were kinda cool...

If Iwere asked on the spot my rating of this game, I would give Secret of Evermore 7.5 gamebeains outta 10
