Whats up all my GameBrain Phreaks! Welcome to the very first edition of The Gamebrains very own Rated Mature. I couldn't think of a decent intro so lets get right to work shall we......

I'll start with dicussing the upcoming Daytona on the Dreamcast I guess. This game has gotten me very excited for I loved the first version that was released on the Saturn all the way back in 1995. I mean come on who didn't love the theme song DAYYYYTOOOOONAAAAAA! that theme will forever grace my brain until I pass on to the next life. Anyway the new Daytona will feature awesome network racing at 60 fps! I can honestly say that will take what little social life I had away from me..haha The latest news on this killer creation for mankind has kinda got me in an up-roar. The japanese version of daytona will feature network support for up to and including eight players while the U.S. is said to only support four players....WHAT GIVES! If you ask me this just only gives more things for the "Sega Player Haters" to fuss about...

Now for a huge news story that broke not to long ago, but has been very hush hush through out the Sega offices. It appears that Sega is supposedly working on a top secret peripheral for the Dreamcast. The so-called MP3 player you ask...well no.., well what about the DVD player that was spoke of at E3...nope cancelled..., well its actually a expansion pak similar to the one Nintendo brought out for N64 a couple of years ago, but of course this one is way more powerful. It has said to upgrade the Dreamcast to the point that it will be able to handle games with graphics like Hikaru or the Naomi 2. In other words....whats a Playstation 2..lol!

While i'm on the subject, did anyone catch the billboard vehicle that Sega sent to Sony CEA's HQ and the parking lots of some of the major software developers for the PS2? If not it stated the following "Our deepest condolences to Sony on their shipping difficulties" and to top it off it had a picture of a kid with his tounge hanging out and his thumbs in his ears waving his hands...haha! If anyone can direct a link or email me a picture of the billboard I will thank them in my next column.

Anyway on a more serious note I want to discuss a topic that has filled all of our heads in the past few years...Video Game Violence and the Media. I beleve we all heard the stories of what kids have been doing in schools and that the media have been acusing videogames when all along I beleve that its been the medias fault the whole time. So i'm taking a stand against any and all forms of media that blame violence of the real world on simple Video games. Sure there are some pretty violent games out there and many involve killing to acheve success or go to the next level. But what the media sees in these types of games as educational or shall I say simulational ways of real life violence, us hardcore or even part time gamers see as stress killing games. Sure there are the normal 2% (or even more) of children that are insane that may have access to these types of games but its the parents fault for buying or allowing the children buy these games. If you ask me I say why is it that the media always blame Video games for the worlds problems? Why not blame the media theresevles? If you really think about it, every night we all tune into a news channel or a news broadcast and see real life violence happening right before our eyes. Most of use not thinking that the media is formating our brains to think well this happens every so it must be ok. No one can actully tell me and i'll beleve them that while watching that program that your thinkin "OH My God" or "I wish that was me instead of that poor person that was shot". Sure i'll admit that I don't think those thoughts either butback before the days of tv and before the days of the media and even videogames there where many more helpfull people out in this world than there are these days without a doubt. But to keep on my point there where also the many violent people raising all kinds of heck and torment in the world just like these days but only more. If i'm right and I'm pretty sure that I am, the news media has been around WAY longer than any form of eletronic video game. Ok i'll admit we all have our own opinions on these types of subjects and thats what makes this country great to live in, because we can say them without being silenced. One last thing to input on this subject, A note to all the parents of young children that play games. The ESRB is your answer to what games are made for your children, do not (and I can't stress this enough) listen to the news media and let them tell you what right from wrong! If your having secong thoughts about buying a game for your kid listen to your child and read the ESRB ratings for the game. They will help you how to choose that certain game without any trouble. I say this because of that 2% of the mentally challenged kids out there. You never know who these people are and if or when they will conceive a violent plan that involes killing people or blowing up buildings or abusing animals or anything that will do harm for the human race. Now that I gave a shameless plug to the ESRB i'll end this coulmn on a good note..here is a picture of me after my thanksgiving dinner.
