Column #3

By KeldonWarlord

Hello Gamebrainers and welcome back to yours and my very own Rated Mature. A friend and I are working on a new header for this column that will be debuted in the next hard hitting issue. Don't worry though, theres a good chance that i'll still be naked...haha I have a lot to cover this time around including some major news including the EVIL S (Sony) were I cover some rather disturbing news of how there trying to keep a playa down...haha playa

As many of you know E3 is around the corner so it can be certainly an exciting time of the year. With many major announcments expected, anyone could see this will be an E3 for the ages. It will probally be a fight between Sega and Nintendo for the biggest news breaks as Sega has a lot of explaining to do (gamewise) and Nintendo has a lot of talking to do ( hardware stuff) as well. I'd imagine that Sega will release there current list and future plans for each systems that they choose to devlop for. But I think the biggest annoucment will be the confirmation of a rumor about Sega and Nintendo doing an RPG together and I hear that they are in talks for a Mario/Sonic party game plus a possible Super Smash Bros 2 in the works that may include many Sega characters along with the many nintendo characters in the first game.

Along the Nintendo side of things, we can expect major news for the upcoming systems including the offical price, release date, and more games for the Game Cube. As for Game Boy Advance, expect to a see a slew of new games for the little wonder. Speaking of the Boy wonder, it appears we may see a similar breakdown that we saw in the PS2 launch involving not enough systems for just the preorders! With the Japanese launch less than a month away there are said to be over 3.2 million preorders in Japan alone! Not is certainly not good news concidering that Nintindo stated at a press session about two weeks back that they will only have one million GBA's ready for launch. If they don't clear up this little mess soon, we may see a delay of the launch of the GBA's here in the States.

While i'm on the subject of things that piss me off.....The company I like to refer to as "The Pretty Hate Machine", Square is really getting to me. Their always ongoing fight with Nintendo has just became even larger and now its really starting to effect all of us gamers. But I can't give all the blame to Square this time around as for Nintendo seems to not want to have anything to do with Square..?!? The following is part of a translated interview that Bloomburg of Japan had with Nintendo Co. Ltd. President Hiroshi Yamaauchi. Plus let me note that this was a response to the question of will there be any Final Fantasys titles for any of the big N's consoles....

"We do not have a contract with Square, and do not plan to even consider a contract in the future... [Square] is free to say whatever they want, but we have no intention of signing a contract, and there's little chance of one being signed in the future."

AHHH what has gotten between these two companies that makes us gamers suffer!?!? Lets all hope that they can find a way to resolve whatever issues they have against each other.

While i'm on the subject of "The Pretty Hate Machine", Square has announced that they will re-release remakes of FF VII,VIII, and XI for the PS2, FF X has been bumped back to July in Japan, and FF XII has been announced.

One now for the big news of the week...Let me note that the following is all fact and no longer in the rumor stage.....

There have been many complaints with Sony from devlopers, publishers, and store owners, we all know that but the newest bit of news just bites me in that raw dirty type of way. I have plenty sources to back me up(even a national mag writer). It appears that Sony CEA has been threatened several major video game retailers wih reduced PS2 hardware allocations if they didn't remove marketing materials for Microsofts X-Box, Nintendos Gamecube and The Game Boy Advance from their store.

Some retailers have made statements that they thought it was Sony's fault in the first place for not suppling with the proper hardware. Also some said that they started the preorders to please the customers so they wouldn't drop their service with the store. Let me add on top of all this Sony is relaunching the PS2 in Japan!?!?!? Humm...I wonder why ... hum ... maybe because the PS2 is going for $100 more in Japan...hat could be why.. Since the Dreamcast is slowly fading I guess that leaves the PS2 as the major playa until X-Box and Cube hit the scene.and they figure that they can throw a little weight around...well i'm sticking with my past thoughts(read Rated Mature 1,2) and i'll hold out for the next two systems and stay with my hardcore roots.

Well I guess i'll wrap up this hard hitting addition and get to work on next weeks and finish Retro Gaming Flux (which will feature Secret of Evermore) and I got some reviews to finish.... ok your free to go now, get off of my lawn....NOW!!!
