Column #8

By: KeldonWarlord

Hello all once agin and welcome to the Bast Damn Internet Column out there! With GBA in hand and X-Box on the mind I'm back again to bring you some of the latest news stories and other things that are on my mind. So sit back go grab a beverage of your choice and Feel the words as they course from my keyboard into your brain.

First off i'd like to wish a wonderful happy 1oth anniversary to Sega and all the people that helped create Sonic ten years ago. So in honor of Sonic's Birthday, I have decided to place a small timeline to show the wonders of his life! So enjoy!!

1991

Sonic the Hedgehog made his first apperance on the Sega Genesis In 1991 in his own self-titled game. The game went on to sell 2 Million Copies the first year of production thus making Sonic a well known figure for all to behold!

1992

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 was released on the Sega Genesis exactly one year after its prequel. Many claim it to be the best of the 16-bit Sonic games plus it was the best selling 16-bit game EVER! Within the first five days, Sonic 2 sold 400,000 copies to the masses. Thats pretty damn good.

1993

Sonic was graced with his own Comic book and Tv animated series. Plus he was the first videogame character to be in the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade.

1994

Sonic CD and Sonic 3 was released this year to a hungry crowd of gamers everywhere.

1995

Sonic the Hedgehog was proclaimed as one of the top five most recognizable personalities in the world. the Sonic name was licensed to be placed on many items such as lunch boxes, stickers, clocks, wrist watches, shoes, pasta, posters, and just about anything else you can think of.

1996

Sonic's animated series is rated as the #1 Saturday morning cartoon and his comic book hits #1 as well. Sonic is also granted his own Cristmas special. Sonic makes his first appearance on the Sega Saturn to millions of hungry Saturn Fan boys(and girls) across the world in Sonic 3D blast. Plus Sonic CD and Sonic's School house hit the Personal Computer.

1997

Sonic Jam hits the Saturn and PC. It has four classic Sonic games including a gallery of pictures of all things Sonic. Then Sonic hit the Saturn once again later again in Sonic R, thus creating a whole new genre(read top 5 Sonic titles for more info).

1998

Sonic Xtreme was canned on the Saturn making many Saturn owners very angry and turn there back on Sega All together. But The Dreamcast launches and Sonic Adventure is released along side it and is the #1 title (with a very close 2 and 3 being Soul Calibur and Powerstone) on the DC. Sonic Adventurew was stated to be one of the best games of the year by many websites and magazines.

1999

Rated #1 in Canada, Sonic Underground(my fav of the three animated series) was launched into syndication.

2001

Sonic the Hedgehog turns 10 and the release of Sonic Adventure 2 is set to honor his legacy. Plus Sonic was annoucned among the first of Sega's trademark's to hit other home consoles and the GBA. Now a new legacy can be set with Sonic spaning his glory on other platforms.

Well thats it! Once again to the creators of all the Sonic games, Have a great year guys, you earned it! Ok now on with the Killer news and Rumors......

Heh heh as some of you know, Sega announced 11 titles that are to be released on the X-Box, well theres on out there that didn't get much exposure since it was kept secret....until now....Does anyone remember a little RPG on the Dreamcast called Skies of Arcadia? Yeah I thought so. Well the newest EGM and tons of email I have received haved stated that a sequel is in the works for the X-Box! Sounds good to me!

Team Ninja(creators of the DOA series) finally slipped up and pretty much confirmed a brand spanking new Ninga Gaiden for the X-Box. The story of 4th installment takes place where the NES classics left off.

Soul Calibur 2 is Confirmed for release in the Arcades and on the PS2. but the President of Namco neither Confirmed or Denied that the game will hit the X-Box , Gamecube or even the GBA. Humm interesting...

Sounds like Microsoft really do listen to the people and are ready to try and please them with all there might no matter what alot of the stupid Sony Fan boys state. They are considering changing the design of the X-Box controller since many people complained that it was too big and the action buttons were too close together. If you ask me i wish they would just take a quick look at there PC controllers, because there excellent!

Well I guess thats all fir this edition of Rated Mature. Be sure to tune in next week for a speacial edition of Rated Mature were I speak of the upcoming System war and I will break down each system and speak of there best and worst features including hardware and games. Once we have that underway, I will suspend all actions(except new editions of this very column), until we are ready to launch the new version of the X-Box Corner to the millions and the millions of gamers of the world.
